Tramel: Lon Kruger gave OU basketball a great 10 years, but family time calls

If Lon Kruger ever raised his arms in triumph, I don’t remember it.

Maybe when he was wearing those cool two-tone purples and Kansas State won Big Eight titles back in and  

But not when he coached K-State or Florida or Illinois to great heights.

Not when his Sooners made the  Sweet 16, or when Buddy Hield shot OU into the Final Four, or when the latest batch of Sooners beat four top teams in a day span.

But Sunday in an Indianapolis hotel room, face-timing with his son and granddaughter from Las Vegas, up zipped Kruger’s arm in celebration.
