    Broduerick Stephen "Steve" Harvey was born on January 17, 1957, in West Virginia, the son of Eloise and Jesse Harvey, a coal miner.

    After graduating from high school in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1974, Harvey briefly worked as an insurance agent and boxer.

    In the mid-1980s, Harvey began his career as a stand-up comedian. Gaining recognition for his deft improvisational skills, he landed a starring role in the ABC sitcom "Me and the Boys" in 1994.
